One of my favorite parts of being a Manhattan real estate agent, is that I’ve gotten to discover pockets of my city that I would have never stumbled upon.  One such spot may be far out of your way, but well worth the adventure.  Head up to the top of Manhattan to dine at Indian Road Café in Inwood!

This great find is literally at the top of the island at the intersection of Indian Road and West 218th Street.  A quick walk from the last stop on the A train, this neighborhood gem won’t disappoint.  I discovered it after taking a true “New Yorker hike” through Manhattan’s only truly wild terrain, Inwood Hill Park.  At the end of the meandering journey my stomach was ready for a filling meal and a good beer, and Indian Road Café lay at the end of the path.

The Café has a coffee bar upfront perfect for the casual drop in, caffeine and sugar recharge, or a sit in the full dining area or bar for a relaxing meal any time of the day.  Indian Road Café feels like you’re walking into your own set of Friends, the spot where everyone hangs out and lets the hours slip by in conversation.  They serve a variety of fresh and seasonal fare, including panini, salads, soups, and artisanal meat and cheese plates, excellent desserts, plus brunch on both Saturdays and Sundays!

The walls are a constantly rotating art gallery, and that’s only the beginning of the personality of this place.

Check out their events calendar and discover live music sometimes 4 nights a week, the weekly Pub Quiz on Wednesdays with it’s own website devoted to the epic event, Uptown Cabaret, and of course…Indian Road Knitting Circle every Tuesday!

In the summer the café’s huge windows open up and there’s nothing between you and Inwood Hill Park and water views of Spuyten Duyvil Creek and the Hudson River.  In the winter, it’s nice and cozy inside with the same lovely view.  To top it off Happy Hour 4-7pm Monday through Friday, now what other reason do you need?!  Take the journey to the “top of the rock” and toast to Indian Road Café!
