Central Park

Central Park is conveniently located in the center of Manhattan. It is bordered on the north by West 110th Street, on the south by West 59th Street, on the west by Eighth Avenue and the east by Fifth Avenue.

what to do

The northern tip of Central Park is arguably the most fantastic. The North Woods at the Ravine are the dense woodlands covering the northwest quadrant of Central Park from 101st street to 110th street. This reserve, with a wide variety of trees and shrubs, features a variety of bird species and is a cherished retreat for naturalists. Feeling the need for peace and tranquility? Check out the calming 103rd Street waterfall. At 110th Street you’ll find Lasker Pool, an amazing, free (!) public pool, which is transformed into an ice skating rink in the colder months.

where to eat/drink

Beyond the abundance of carts and food stands throughout the park, there are also hidden gems and café’s about.

  • Dancing Crane Café: This café at the Central Park Zoo is open to both zoo visitors and outside patrons. It has both indoor and outdoor seating, and features relatively inexpensive fare, such as sandwiches, snacks and drinks. It is located at 64th St. and Fifth Ave.

  • Petrie Court Café and Wine Bar: If you want to sit and sip an alcoholic beverage in an elegant setting, this café is for you.
